Java & Jam Virtual Concert Series

 

COLUMBUS, Ohio — John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH) in partnership with the Greater Columbus Arts Council/Music Everywhere is pleased to present Java & Jam, a virtual concert series taking place on Facebook throughout the summer. Featuring local artists representing a range of genres, those who tune in can experience coffee house concert vibes from the comfort of their home or office. To catch these 30-minute musical “jam” sessions live, head to John Glenn Columbus International Airport’s Facebook page every Monday and Wednesday, July 6 – August 17 at 10 a.m.

Greater Columbus Arts Council Awards Record Number Artists in the Community Grants

 

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Greater Columbus Arts Council Board of Trustees approved 226 Artists in the Community (AITC) grants for April, exhausting AITC funds for the year. The second AITC application cycle received over 245 applications, the largest number in a single cycle to date. In 2019, 61% of individual artists awarded were first-time applicants.

The second set of the evening brought Copacetic to the stage for a mix of originals from their 2017 self-titled EP and well-chosen takes on favorite material. Saxophonist Ed Hill unleashed his soaring soprano on album tune “Joy,” which included a giant guitar solo from Derek Brown and soulful runs from keyboardist Chris Brown.

This effort from Copacetic shows that they are really good musicians. In addition, the recording sounds really good. That last point should not be discounted, as there is a lot of music out there where the recordings lack substance.
